Activate Her Voice Announces its First Panel Event in Association
With Green Dot Public Schools
Los Angeles - Activate Her Voice (AHV), an empowerment platform dedicated to engaging, activating and inspiring women and girls by leveraging technology and strategic partnerships, will be hosting their first panel event on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 at the Locke College Preparatory Academy, 325 E 111th St, Los Angeles, CA 90061, at the Jet Space Facility from 12:00PM - 1:30PM.
Partnering with Green Dot Public Schools, the interscholastic event will feature a panel of women leaders in power who have succeeded in technology, journalism, film and music, providing an intimate opportunity to connect, guide and inspire 25 young women.
The event will be moderated by Nadya Rousseau; a writer, social media consultant and social entrepreneur. Her journalism has been featured by Stackstreet, Examiner, Elite Daily, Yahoo, and LinkedIn. Nadya recently launched Alpha2Alpha, a women's empowerment, resource sharing, and networking movement. She is also the managing director for Organizein, an up and coming web marketing agency.
Panelists include: Ann Greenberg, Julie Bergman, and Asha Dahya.
Ann Greenberg is a serial entrepreneur, inventor and thought leader. Ann co-founded Gracenote, the leading entertainment data and technology company in the world. Gracenote connects millions of people to the content they love and handles billions of data requests daily for leading consumer electronic, software and automotive devices. Gracenote was acquired by Sony in 2007 and is now owned by Tribune Media. At her new company, Sceneplay, Ann is building a cloud-based collaborative storytelling platform that takes the script format into the 21st century to virtualize and automate media creation. Ann also owns the Hugging Company, an incubator for both blockchain and AR/VR technologies providing cutting edge solutions for diverse industries, including entertainment, real estate and health care.
Asha Dahya is a television host and the Creator and Editor-in-Chief of GirlTalkHQ based out of Los Angeles, CA. GirlTalkHQ is a daily women's news media site with the mission to inspire and empower. It is today's go-to destination for women looking for content that focuses on the representation of women in the media.
Julie Bergman is the co-owner of Balcony Films, an award-winning media company that creates innovative content: films, television, web series, specials, animation, advertising, public service and social campaigns including two films that have been nominated for Academy Awards. Balcony Films leverages success in filmed entertainment, popular culture and journalism to imagine and produce multi-media experience that entertain, invite and challenge audiences to take action, get involved, and make a difference in the world.
The event will conclude with two live performances by artists Julia Marie, who is currently recording her debut EP "Here & Now", to be released in 2016 on RM Records, and Sarai McKenzie, a high school senior, artist, rapper, singer, writer and musician who is Youth Leader and Action Scholar with the Children's Defense Fund as part of their Every Student Matters campaign.
